Scars

These deep holes on Rouen town hall (Upper Normandy, France) are the reminding scars of the German invasion in WWII. They have never been filled and covered.

This year on June 6 it will be 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings. I always feel a pang when I look at these holes as being a Western European from a younger generation I have not known the face of invasion and war...
