In the name of development

Two weeks ago, this area near Hamilton was lightly wooded scrubland. Today you see all the large trees have been felled and all the smaller ones cleared. This is echoed on a larger scale on the opposite side of the road, all in the name of housing development. Not that long ago, a deer rushed across the road in front of me as I was driving here.
This area borders on the country park and now it seems it is going to be urbanised. Am I alone in lamenting the demise of these trees and natural habitat???
