A taste of Deco

After a hectic morning getting ready for the family invasion tomorrow, I lured him indoors to Preston on the pretext of a change of shopping. We were hungry by the time we got there and had soup and a sandwich in this beautifully restored art deco coffee shop. The owner came by and told us a bit of the history of the place, which he is in the process of carefully refurbishing.

We wandered up the town a bit, and when it started raining hard I managed to steer the unwitting soon-to-be birthday boy into the mall and then to the camera shop without him twigging - so when the birthday present was revealed he was fairly ..... gobsmacked!! It's great when a plan comes together!
