Excelsior Per Cantum
Rosslyn Chapel is the perfect venue for tonight's programme of sacred music from Rome, sung by Excelsior Per Cantum, the chamber choir of Heriot-Watt University.
The concert was a fund-raiser to purchase defibrillators for a brilliant scheme, called Heart Start, by which local Community First Responders can commence CPR for a patient in cardiac distress. This saves valuable time before the emergency crew can reach the scene.
After the concert, over refreshments and raffle, we watched a demonstration of the portable defibrillator and CPR by Jo, who, with her co-volunteers, covers the Bilston and Roslin area. The idea is that defibrillators be sited in suitable locations, such as sports clubs, anyone and everyone can be trained to use them.
