An unexpectedly lovely day - sun shining, not much wind, warmish. We worked hard in the garden in the morning clearing another neglected area, ripping up huge clumps of bog grass and planting 6 new blueberry bushes.
We later rewarded oursleves with a brisk walk down to Trá Ruam. The walk down is knee twinging and the walk up cardiac enducing, but the wander around the headland was fresh and invigorating- such strong colours everywhere. It was the first time we had been down since the storms and were astounded at the damage to the pier - huge chunks of concrete had been ripped off revealing the packing boulders underneath. I've been dithering over which image to blip as I have a nice view of the cliffs but there's something about the way this little house fits into the landscape that I like. It's a new bungalow too and normally they're just plonked with no regard to their situation, but this little blue job seems rather serene encased in all that green and blue. All the little white specks are daisies.
Back home and one apple tree planted - two more to go.
We went to The Grand Budapest Hotel last night - I really enjoyed it. Quirky, silly, funny, unique, well observed, beautifully designed and well acted - Ralph Fiennes was just extraordinary. A welcome change after all the rather heavy films we've seen recently.
