Old Life and New Life

Saint John in the Vale is a pretty and welcoming little church always open. It dates back to 1554 with the church being rebuilt in 1845 using much of the old building. It's small tower has one bell and no one seems to know the date it was built. It is in a rather inaccessible and wild setting. Today was a mixture of snow, black clouds and brilliant sunshine giving way to blue skies and warm sun. All we could hear was birdsong. The Northerly airstream made every detail crystal clear and lit up the Eastern Fells topped with snow in the background. A lovely place to sit.
