in midst of life

I like cemeteries and churchyards. i'm a quiet man essentially, and drawn to quiet places. The world drops away slightly; the light seems to fall differently. I prefer them not to be trimmed and preened, but to contain a certain wildness, overgrown with wild flowers and grasses. This is St Mary's Churchyard, near where I live. Most of the graves date from the first half of the 19th century. It's beautiful.
