End of an era

When I was growing up, a Saturday ritual was to go to Avalanche Records - then in West Nicolson St, now in the Grassmarket, and leaf through records; maybe buying one occasionally. Now Avalanche is closing down (for the moment at least) as a physical record shop; it'll keep going online, as a label and at the Grassmarket Saturday market. I went down for a last splurge and was too late (though picked up some vinyl at the stall). Kev, the owner, is a huge figure in Edinburgh for anyone growing up interested in music and I hope Avalanche emerges stronger. End of an era.
