March Challenge: Day 22 ......
Pellucid.
Adjective meaning: Reflecting light evenly; translucent.
We had a very, very busy and tiring day.
First thing this morning we attended the Amputee Awareness Day Open House that was sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Amputee Support Group. The guest speaker was Colonel Gregory Gadson. He has served in the US Army for more than 20 years as a field artillery officer and commands Fort Belvoir in Virginia. On the night of May 7, 2007, while returning from a memorial service for two soldiers from his brigade, he lost both his legs and severely injured his right arm to a roadside bomb in Baghdad.
After the open house we drove to Middle Creek Wildlife Reserve in the hopes of photographing more snow geese. We had read that during the migration there could be around 60,000 snow geese at the reserve. Unfortunately, it must be nearing the end of the migration because there were not that many geese there today...... that was disappointing. But we stayed there for a while and went to different locations at the reserve hoping to see more coming in. Some more did fly in before we left, but it definitely wasn't 60,000!
On the way home we stopped at the Tilted Kilt Bar & Eatery for supper. This photo shows the pellucid stained glass window of the entrance door. And, yes, the waitresses outfits really are this skimpy! But the food is delicious!
