Chickens!

So, Beck and I went to this chicken keeping course down a lane in Swadlincote and came back with three new family members. They seem to be settling in okay despite not yet mastering the stairs up to the roosting area (meaning that we had to physically put them to bed tonight individually - hopefully we won't need to be tucking them in for long...!) The girls are very excited (my girls, that is, not Mabel, Betty and Harriet, who only Katie can even tell apart at the moment...), Hector seems determined to actually move in with them and Tom is basically refusing to acknowledge the existance of livestock in the garden in any way, shape or form...

A new album from the Hold Steady is nigh - and even the most cynical of us should prepare to have their faith in the redemptive power of rock and roll replenished...
