Aberdour

Sun, once more, and another bike ride. This time with the cousin, and with more of a plan than yesterday - we cycled to Fife, along the coast, though that was as far as the plan took us.

After an emergency caffeine boost before meeting Sol (no coffee before 1 and I end up with a headache...) we set off towards South Queensferry. Nice to take Sol who hadn't been before; the gently curving roads though woodland and fields down to the coast are something special, even if we did get caught in a brief hailstorm.

Lunch on the harbour walls at South Queensferry, before heading over the long expanse of the fourth road bridge, and into North Queensferry. Both the Queensferry's are lovely, small cobbled streets and a sense of times gone by. After an oggle at the great expanse of criss-crossed steel belonging to the Forth rail bridge, we made our way along the coast, though Inverkiething, got lost in Dalgety Bay, and ended up in Aberdour.

We cycled though the castle to the beach, locked out bikes and walked up to the headland, where a big beacon sits like a chess piece looking out to sea. Sol wanted to catch an early train home, so we set off back towards the station, and after an agonising wait for a take away coffee, he caught the train back to Edinburgh.

I was enjoying the sea and sun so much I decided to catch the next train, but ended up missing that one too, catching a much later one. I sat in the sun, doing nothing much but contemplating life, and strolling up and down the coast past watching sea birds.

This shot is almost directly north across the estuary from yesterdays, which I find quite satisfying.
