The Balloon Girl

One of the most fascinating graves I have seen, the story of the balloon girl is so fascinating and there is plenty of information.
On 21st July 1896 Louisa Maud Evans, ascended in a balloon from Cathays Park. She was using the latest in parachute technology - which then wasn't all that and at 5,000 feet she jumped from the balloon and parachuted into the channel - the parachute and all it's paraphernalia weight over 30lbs and she was dragged under to her death. Her body washed up at Nash 3 days later.

She was 14 and 1/2 years old
