A very fine sandwich
The sausage sandwich. Such a humble but tasty meal, though often quickly just thrown together. Not so at the Tiffin cafe at Clevedon, where they served me up the best looking, best tasting sausage sarnie I've ever had the pleasure of eating...
It was an unexpected drive to Clevedon, near Bristol, to collect a plan chest. I've never been there before, so the charms of the Victorian architecture of the 'seaside' town (actually an estuary really) was nice to see, even though the pier was closed off for pop group One Direction filming a video, watched by a small crowd of occasionally cheering fans, and a handful of press photographers. We looked on briefly, then went in search of a decent cafe for a warming cuppa and lunch. The Tiffin looked pleasant, so we sat down at an outside table. The menu looked promising, the waiter friendly and helpful, the prices Ok. Cafés with a sea view can get away with serving up any old food, but the Tiffin proved to be way, way better than that. The soup of the day, the sausage sandwich, the coffee.. all top notch. Such a pleasant experience.
The next cafe I go to will have to go some to beat today's lunch at the Tiffin.
