Hummer
This morning as I was filling our bird feeders, I happened to look skyward. There she was, a Ruby -throated Hummingbird, up high in the still denuded Winged Elm! I, of course, dropped everything and went inside for my camera. Thankfully I had my longest lens still attached from a weekend of shooting with the Band of Blippers. She was kind enough to sit very still for me to take her photo :)
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are the only Hummingbird that breeds east of the Mississippi River. They breed from southern Canada to the Gulf Coast and winter mainly in the tropics. This is one of the first to return to our area or perhaps she
over-wintered here...it's hard to say! Welcome back little Hummer:)
