Fun of the Fair
George Square in Glasgow came into being in 1871. It may not quite be Times Square, or Red Square, or the Piazza San Marco. It may not be Tiananmen Square, or even Leicester Square. But it's Glesca!
These days it becomes a winter wonderland from late November with lots of attractions including an open air ice rink and fairground attractions.
I took this picture of this morning's first fairground ride of the day. A good time I think, as it was still very quiet and it was a bright sunny day. Not a Buckfast bottle to be seen!
In the background is Merchant Chambers, and just out of picture Sir Robert Peel, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and James Watt look down and nod their approval.
