Across the Sky

One of the guys at work got his fancy phone out, selected an app, pointed at a contrail in the sky and declared that was his parents heading to San Francisco. This isn't them but I guess this is also heading to somewhere on the western coast of North America. Perhaps the wilds of Canada for some quality skiing, or to the metro lifestyle of San Francisco, or the sandy beaches and bright lights of LA.

And yet how many of those folks heading to distance lands to see a bit of the world have taken time to see the parts of Britain they have just flown over. Perhaps Glasgow doesn't have the tinsel of LA and Ben Nevis isn't quite Yosemite, but dramatic just the same.

I remember when I travelled the world with a backpack on my back thinking "how come I am travelling all this way to see the world, when I haven't even seen very much of what the British Isles has to offer.
