Summary Justice....
Sometimes I get very angry when I hear of someone who has done something to hurt someone or someone's property and has got away with it on some legal technicality or is just given something like an ASBO. I've worked with kids who have ASBO's and, believe me, they regard them as a badge of honour, something to aspire to, like kids in Knutsford aspire to A* GCSE grades, and they aren't accepted by their peer groups until they have one.
Justice was simpler in the past. It came fast after a crime and involved a level of public opprobrium, even some public participation, that might make a modern miscreant think twice before doing something. Here's how they dealt with low grade criminality in Great Budworth in the past...
