Solidarity with all teachers from the NUT, including my mother and Lucy and Izzy's father, who have bravely come out on strike today against the bullying tactics of the odious, nefarious and pugnacious Gove , who is pushing for excessive workload and bureaucracy; performance related pay and criminal changes to pension conditions. The average primary teacher is now working more than 60 hours per week.; secondary heads 63 hours and the average secondary teacher is working in excess of 56 hours a week. This is simply unsustainable.

Teachers who come out on strike lose a days pay.

We took the girls for a family dinner, had too much to drink and laughed a lot at their sweet antics. Time to sleep it off ;)

Thousands are still leaving the teaching profession due to intolerable working lives. A staggering 2 out of 5 stop teaching in their first 5 years and teacher morale is plummeting. Michael Gove can avoid future strikes by showing he is willing to compromise.
