Praise the lord for the oxo cube!

Todays tea was going to be slow cookers beef and ale stew.

I got up early, I 'browned' my lean beef. I peeled my potatoes and put them in the slow cooker pot. Carrots next. Beef nicely browned and added to the pot.

So next I have to make up the sauce as per packet.

There's only one small problem I didn't have the main ingredient. Ale!

We got beef, we got potato, we got carrot, we got slow cooker, we even got hot water but we got no ale so we got no option than to have plain old beef stew.
