The Unexpected

In a day which ranged from a wonderfully stimulating discussion with students at the Victoria University of Wellington , through bilaterals with the New Zealand Education and Culture Ministers , to a celebrity chef barbecue at the Prime Ministers Official Residence ( complete with barber shop renditions of Elvis Presley & the Beach boys from a very talented Maori quartet called the " Musical Island Boys") the really unexpected thing was this - a manuscript copy of Hogg's Jacobite Songs in New Zealand's National Library.

It was one of a number of intriguing items put on show for us during a visit which was focused on their excellent and very innovative educational work.
