A Wave On The Ocean

By Bensholto

Frederick Smith Clarke, 78, trying to understand the wonders of the internet on his smartphone as we sit and drink a coffee.

Never known as Fred, always known as Ted.
He said it was because when he did his National Service in the 1950s, people misheard his name, thought he was called Edward, and called him Ted for that.

He admitted years later that the other servicemen called him Ted (as in teddy bear) due to his short stocky stature and how hairy he was.

I just call him dad.
