You can see the trees on the golf course are all bent towards the East, years of being blown and fighting against the wind.

The Barry Burn is famous for meandering through The Championship Golf Course in Carnoustie, most notably for Jean Van De Velde paddling in it to try and take his final shot of The Open Championship.
