After the rain, the Sun.

After overnight rain and a murky start to the day, I was really pleased to see this pale sun peeping from behind the trees. It reminded me of the lyrics from this hymn, one of the favourites with the kids at school when I was teaching.

Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes,
And the fall of dew.

After the sun the rain,
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Till the work be done.

All that we need to do,
Be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow
Nearer the sky.

What I didn't know is that the lyrics actually come from a poem called 'A Little Song Of Life' by Lizette Woodworth Reese.
