Wales Millennium Centre & Pier Head Building

I had to drop off a Mothers Day present as I'm busy over the weekend. This presented an opportunity to get a blip foto from my favourite shooting ground of Cardiff Bay.

The blipfoto is of Wales Millennium Centre & Pier Head Building (Part of Welsh Assembly Buildings). A little bit unusual to have both in the same image, especially in daylight with hardly anyone about.

It's an ideal shot showing a Fisheye lens at it's best.

The Millennium Centre was started in 2002, and opened after first stage of building in November 2004. It was actually fully completed in January 2009. The total cost was just over £124 million.

It was designed by Iraqi born architect Zaha HADID after she beat others in her submissions. The materials on the whole of the building come from around Wales (eg. Slates/Stones from various quarries).

It's certainly an outstanding Welsh icon made even more famous by Torchwood!
