Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub of the Fairly Trusty Steed. That bike hasn't been used for a while, as the chain and sprockets are distinctly shot. Sounds terrible. Have had the necessary replacement bits for months. Just been too lazy to get around to it... and fixing things for others! Never keen on putting nice new transmission parts on a bike whilst there's still likely to be salt spread on the roads.
Puncture in the main workhorse, earlier on in the week, highlighted the need to sort this one - and then have a backup that's usable! Fixed the puncture, only to find there was damage to the tube by the valve. A new tube sorted that. Now to start on the hub gear bike.
Removing the wheel was today's start. Checking how you're supposed to take this apart will be the next stage - i.e. reading the manual... some people do that you know. Putting it together correctly with the new sprocket fitted will be the important bit. Left over bits are not permitted...
