Hiram M. Chittenden Locks ~ Sunset Reflections

3/29/2014 ~ Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks), Sunset Reflections, Ballard Neighborhood, Seattle, WA

Record setting rain fall in Western Washington has all gates open at the locks helping to drain flooded rivers and the Lake Washington watershed. Another day of off and on rain showers as the fronts moved through.

Last Saturday a large landslide in Oso, Washington destroyed the town with 26 confirmed dead and 90 people missing. Rain saturated hill is mentioned as one of the factors. The continuing rains has hampered rescue/recovery efforts which some officials believe it will take months to clean up the site. With the continuing rains there is also fear that additional landslides could occur in the area where the massive recovery effort is underway. Rain and showers are forecasted for seven of the next ten days.
