Into the Green Curtain

Shot in the Kaituna Valley Scenic Reserve this morning, looking in to the Titoki forest.

I thought I'd go for a quick walk in the reserve to see how things were after the flooding and high winds from a couple of weeks back. Sadly, things aren't good; there's been a lot of silt deposited through the forest remnant close to the river, not to mention a few trees washed down the river and a few that have lost limbs in the reserve.

For much of my walk I was followed by a curious fantail. Unfortunately I didn't have the right lens to capture his high speed manoeuvres in the shaded forest. Maybe another day?
