A skipful of landfill

...Abingdon Road, Oxford.

Most of us don't piss on the pavement: we use a toilet. But most of us don't know how to recycle because what can be recycled varies from one local authority area to another.

Some local authorities - such as Oxford - provide different bins in town centres for different types of waste but all types of waste end up in all bins. In many places - such as the school in Oxford where I'm teaching this week - there are no recycling bins anywhere.

It can't be that difficult to have one recycling system wherever we go. Knowing where to put our waste should be as easy as pulling the chain.
