Fog on the Tyne
I hadn’t realised just how mournful the sound of a fog horn is, but it was certainly sounding today on the Northumberland coast. With fog forecast, it possibly wasn’t the best time to go to the sea, but I had been at Newcastle University for a tutorial this morning and in the afternoon my chauffeur and I decided to head for the coast anyway. It was foggy!
This is Tynemouth, the clue being in the name - it’s where the River Tyne meets the sea. The two lighthouses (you can just see two through the fog!) protect the river mouth - one at the end of Tynemouth Pier and the other on a similar pier at South Shields. (I may have some of this wrong, but there are plenty of blippers in the area who will correct me.)
