Windswept
I spent most of today out leafletting in a couple of villages up the coast. Really beautiful, isolated places, with stunning countryside on one side and the heritage coast on the other. The weather largely held although it was unbelievably windy especially when sea spray is coming at you horizontally.
It made me feel weirdly nostalgic. I spent a lot of my childhood in isolated rural areas, not dissimilar to these villages, and it was perfect for my growing imagination and love of playing outdoors. It formed the person I am today and helped develop some important defence mechanisms that have seen me through some very rough times in life.
I recounted the story of the time I was shot at by one of the farmers who thought I was trying to kill his chickens. I was 8 years old and running around in the field with a plastic sword, pretending to be He-Man. Those were the days.
Alas, dashing about with a handful of leaflets in that wind, with rain spitting down on occasion, made it tough to take many photos. I really like this one though.
