Lic - How is your Old English?

Lic means corpse in Old English and this is where the word Lychgate (can be spelt lichgate, lycugate or Lych gate) comes from. They are found at the entrance to a church or burial ground in England. This one was rather magnificent and was at the entrance to the church where our concert was held this evening. In the middle ages when someone died they would be wrapped in a shroud and taken to the church and laid on a table under the lychgate and the first part of the service would take part here before the burial. (There were no bodies there tonight thank goodness ! ) In other words everyone survived the concert (even the couple who couldn't sing!!) (see yesterdays blip!!)

All went very well and no I am home and going to watch the Voice which we recorded.. exhausted.
