Disagreement

Two Black Headed Gulls arguing. This is nothing new, they are a fractious species who need to congregate in large numbers but do not get on very well! This Gull has the scientific name of Chroicocephalus ridibundus which means Laughing Dark-stained Head.
Although called Black Headed it is actually a brown hood that it acquires in the breeding season. There are lots of anomalies in the naming of birds. I may bore you with some of this in the future.
