A Hand Up

"A hand up", not just a "hand out". This is the goal of the Maslow Project in Coos Bay, Oregon. The Maslow Project is a goal oriented resource center and outreach program for youth and families who are in need of help and resources, or who might be homeless.

We joined another project called "One Wave" who's goal is to move in as a group of volunteers from the Christian community, roll up our sleeves and help out a local organization that already exists to lend a hand. Today, about 20 volunteers painted, hung cabinets, hung a new sign on the front of the building, installed and planted flower boxes at the front doors and gave an overall face lift to the Maslow Project.

Here, I have caught the charming daughter of our fearless project leader, organizing the brochure rack.

It felt exciting to see the place transform, and to meet the lovely & kind Patty who serves our community there. I only wish I could be there when the kids come back after Spring break!
