Woodend Beach

We left Hanmer Springs this morning without experiencing the pools, next time! We had intended to go up to Kaikoura to see the seal pups but had been advised they were not there yet, it would be a long trip for nothing if they weren't so we headed to Christchurch instead! stopping at Woodend Beach on the way. Wow what a fabulous expanse of sandy beach. Had to get bare footed straight away, and head for a paddle!
There was a slight mist, it was hard to pick out the horizon. People were walking there dogs, photographing (us!) surfing, riding both horses and motor bikes and just waiting as this girl was for her friends surfing, but the beach still seemed empty.
Next we visited New Brighton where we watched a local create an amazing piece of art work with a rake and a stick, then Lytlelton where the port was quite busy and people were wandering around enjoying the creativity made by the community.
Now we are back in Christchurch for the night.
