Welly wanging
From aunt and uncles in hayfield to lower damgate farm near ilam for friends wedding. Ceremony was in the barn, complete with cows in adjoining barn with smell wafting through from time to time.
I was an usher. Fully decked out in tight salmon coloured trousers, a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches and a knitted tie. Ceremony was nice with the brides sister paying piano.
Afterwards there was "welly wanging" seeing who could through the Wellington boots the furthest. Even in tight trousers I managed a respectable throw with by far the most attractive technique.
Dinner was a hand carved beef joint with all the trimmings. Followed later by cake/cheese and then even later sausages butties. A live house band with some good tunes livened up the dance floor.
Saw a lot of old uni friends. Including my ex gf of 3.5 years that I broke up with just before moving to the states. Had not seen her for a couple of years and although we ended on good terms it is now awkward. Eventually managed to catch her to say hi and find out how her family and postdoc is going. Sounds like she is doing well and I am happy for her.
Then back to the local farmhouse for a short nights sleep having had to put my roomate to bed as he was wasted. Up to Blackburn tomorrow for one more visit before returning "home" to San Diego.
