Childrens boots

My neighbours have been cleaning out again and asked if I would like to come over and fetch some plant pots. Since they only use the cottage in the summer they don't want to have a garden that will need a lot of work - the previous owner was a very keen gardener who left all her clay pots - and lots of other stuff behind.

After helping them sort out for a while I soon realised I was going to have to go home and fetch a wheelbarrow to carry them all in :-) Several wheelbarrows later everything is now stashed in my greenhouse - along with several other items that I couldn't resist rescuing.

These leather childrens boots were one of the 'extra' items. They had been carefully cleaned and stuffed with newspapers (1978) and probably fitted a five-year-old. It's looks like they have been soled and resoled many times, making them surprisingly heavy - today's children don't know how lucky they are!
