Smudge
I arrived at S's a little later than planned yesterday as I lost my mobile and had to locate it using a special online app before its battery ran out. It worked. I found I hadn't left it in Oxford as it was showing as being in Castlethorpe, which was a relief. I finally tracked it down to the car (which I'd already checked twice)! All's well that ends well and I was quite proud of myself for not panicking.
S liked the little birthday pressies I'd bought her at Waterperry and J liked the cute tweeting Easter chick I got her. A few of their friends joined us and we gorged on a marvellous take away curry from their favourite Leicester curry house. We then had profiteroles. Quite an odd combo but we enjoyed it all just the same. I was plied with wine against my better judgement and the upshot was that I didn't get to bed til 1am (or 2am as the clocks changed to BST too). By then, rather annoyingly, I had my second wind and was wide awake so had to browse the OK magazine that I found in their bathroom for an hour.
I had about 6 hours' sleep on a rather soft bed, which is not good for me but felt surprisingly spritely this morning. The blip is of their cute rabbit, Smudge, sitting in their flower bed of spreading grape hyacinths. He comes in the house too. He's so soft and friendly that he's completely adorable.
I did a big shop on the way home from Leicester at lunchtime and then met B at my house for some gardening. She came armed with top soil, grit, and manure. We prepared the new bed, planted the winter jasmine and the rambling rose and divided the acanthus and snowdrops. I tied back the 'Golden Showers' rose and pulled out a dead stump and we discussed what is to go in the new bed. I am to get some more top soil and a wooden obelisk for the clematis to grow through. We spent about 3 hours in total and things are starting to look ship shape.
I've retired to my room for a quick lie down before my shower, as I'm not used to physical work!
