Perfect day

Just the same as last year, Hanna was frightened to sleep by herself, because Father Christmas/St Nicholas was coming. We mixed up a bit Polish and English traditions and left some food for Santa and raindeer. Also a letter telling him that Hanna will be in Auckland this Christmas, so he can find her there.

At 6.15 am she run to check the plate and was happy to see that all chocolate was gone, a bit of carrot left and all water drank. Santa also left a letter to her. But she couldn't find the present so came back crying her heart out that there is no present. So I had to drag myself out of bed and help her find it. It was too big to fit into a big stocking (another mix-up of the traditions) so the gift was left on her bed. Generous and thoughtful Santa brought even a little fly shooting gun for Mr H, which he was very happy with and played with all day long. This way we have a flyless household, everybody wants to shoot flies. I even dreamt about it.
For some reason Santa forgot about me, I must try harder, maybe at least on Christmas day he'll drop something off for me (can you hear the violins?)

Later we went for our usual Sunday walk in the park, stroll in the market and finished off Christmas shopping. It was a great day, beautiful, sunny and just warm to the perfection. And then we remembered that exactly 1 year ago we booked our tickets from Newcastle to Adelaide. It was a kind of a St Nicholas present for us.
