A golden day
We have had a lovely family get together today to celebrate my Aunty and Uncle's golden wedding anniversary.
We all met at a lovely hotel in Northumberland, having travelled from Glasgow, West Cumbria, Greater Manchester, and Lancashire.
The geographical spread means we don't all get together as much as we would like.
So we make the most of it when we do.
50 years ago the photographs were mostly black and white, and it would be weeks before they were ready for collection and viewing.
Only then could the happy couple see the results of the photographer's work.
50 years on, this is in full colour. It has been cropped, edited, and sent by email to the happy couple before anyone left for home; all from a mobile phone.
After a wonderful lunch we retired to the lounge for coffee.
Dad sat at the piano and almost convinced a few people he could play it. Thankfully there was a lady who can play and she played beautifully as we enjoyed coffee.
My brother lost a game of Chess to our brother in law, using the giant chess set on the patio. My dear sister tried to sit on one of the Knight pieces in the style of Hermione from Harry Potter!
I got my cousin's son to have his camera ready for something I would show him.
He now knows that if you put a tea spoon into a cup of coffee then apply said spoon to his dad's ear lobe it is very funny.
Childish I grant you but still funny!
Here we see the happy couple cutting their celebratory cake.
Have a great week.
