Building a fire for a picnic

Today was beautifully sunny and warm; we went on a family picnic, where the main ingredients were sausages and hamburgers made by my nephew Will.
Here Will and his brothers James and John are preparing the fire, using the method taught them by their grandfather : a base of big pieces, well spaced, with paper and dry grass and lots of little twigs on top. The idea is that the fire burns down, and forms hot coals over which to fry or grill bacon and sausages, hamburgers and steak.
Add hunks of homemade bread and butter, lettuce, tomatoes, etc etc, and plenty of suitable drinks......
