" LAST TRAIN TO SAN FERNANDO "
What an amazing summer's day. The perfect English weather, not too hot, gentle warm breeze and the ideal for walking . So we set off over the fields, past 'Keepers Cottage' on through Castlake, past Lower Vexford until we reached the edge of the West Somerset Railway Line. And here we see Bullied "West Country " Class Pacific Loco 34007. The oldest of this class of locomotive.
Built in Brighton 1945 at the end of the WW11 and scapped in October 1965. It was then salvaged from Woodhams Yard (Wales) in 1981 and restored and back in service October 2006. Today it was a guest locomotive and as I watched it steam past, I as a novice photographer would not have realised it's amazing history. I am not a 'steam buff'' but even I am amazed how a machine built so long ago can be restored to such glory and bring such delight, even today.
We finished off our amazing walking tour with Pimms in the garden. No better way to finish off a superb English weekend, don't you know!!
And on that note, may I wish you all a superb week ahead, full of the usual boring stuff until we have another great weekend!!
Much love, I am wishing you all. xxxxxx
