Feeding
Identification - Delta campaniforme campaniforme, yellow and black potter wasp.
Identification - asystasia gangetica, creeping foxglove.
I have explained how many bugs that feed on this short lived bloom, prefer to feed by ‘drilling’ into the base of the flower. This is because the bloom only lasts for a few hours of daylight. By 2pm, the fields of white that existed mid-morning have vanished, leaving a carpet of green. As the day wears on, the bloom literally drops off, which is mildly inconvenient for the feeding bug.
This handsome wasp demonstrates the technique perfectly.
