Will/Grace.

April 2000. Will & Grace was white hot right about this time, and straight people LOVED this show - which I hated. Hated, hated, hated. To this day it is so embarrassing how the show panders to itself, presents Grace as this sexual bombshell, and mostly lets Will shriek about Yuppie problems while Jack does gay pop culture gymnastics all over the place. This was the popular perception at the time of the gay: successful, but still a curiosity. Although I will say that this was maybe better in some ways than a version of the current gay, which is some sort of weird heterosexual accessory. These days Grace would be the main character, Jack would replace Will, and he would serve no other function than to be the Gay Best Friend. Ugh - I'm amazed that such a show hasn't yet surfaced.
