Sleeping on the job!

I've been wondering for a while where the swans were nesting along the canal, I knew their nest wouldn't be far away and this morning I spied it! At first I didn't notice, I just stopped to take a few pics of the sleeping swan and then I noticed movement in the reeds behind and yep, there she was…. sitting and waiting…. I love how protective the male swans are and what an endearing family unit they make but if he was guarding his lady in waiting then he shouldn't have been snoozing!!! I did walk past again at lunchtime and he was on patrol - I should think so! And about 100 yards further along the canal, the Greylag goose is sitting on hers….. awwww hey - I'm watching them! :)
