Concurso De Tapas Y Pinchos
One of my favourite weeks in the local calendar has arrived. All of the participating local bars have to present a €2.oo tapa or pincho. There are awards for the most original, the most traditional and an award from the general public. There are around 40 tapas bars participating this year so I better get started. This one is from Sidrería El Hórreo and consists of Bonito ( a type of tuna), onions and eggs which is a typical Asturias dish, The proprietor hails from the Asturias region of Spain where the population, as in Galicia, have strong historic Celtic connections. Every friday night he has pipers playing in the bar and like everyone in the north of Spain he is very proud of his food. Only 39 more bars to go.
