First?

Well it's the first small tortoiseshell that I've seen this year. Photographed after lunch on our visit to Old Moor. I'm guessing it had just emerged and when we first spotted it was drying off in the sun. It had tried out its wings by the time I took this image and was further back in the bush. We've been shopping and bought a new garden table (the original was bought as a present by my daughter about 15 years ago and has almost rotted through now) and then called in at Old Moor for soup and a drink and a walk around the hides. Oh and some more bird food. I can tell that getting the table out of the car will be more difficult that putting it in - we haven't attempted that yet!
