Through my Eye phone

Blyth day 2

As you may have seen from my Blip yesterday, we’ve been to Blyth in Northumberland on a mission for Culturapedia.

We’ve been working on a project for some time about how we can better collect data from audiences at outdoor events and festivals. People are fed up of questionnaires that are always too long and don’t really allow us to say what we think.

Working with Nutkhut Theatre company and using our mailout.co brand we’ve come up with the idea of a post office themed installation based in a custom adapted caravan with a cast of mail workers to help really capture the important information and audience oppinion.

Culturapedia has a track record when it comes to caravans having previously restored and adapted a 1979 cadet as an additional flexible space for working. Ellie has operated as a box office, a meeting room and promotional space at festivals and events.

After a grant from Arts Council England to get the idea off the ground and some frantic bidding on ebay, we have purchased a 1983 Compass Commodore Rallye 340 2 Berth Caravan from a very nice man called Joe in Blyth. We drove up yesterday to collect her and have manouvered her into the courtyard next to Ellie. We like the name Blyth it seems to suit her.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sanding, painting, taking bits out and replacing them. I’m going to try and keep a daily blip going of progress. I’ve spent a bit of time today ordering things online like vinyl flooring, paint and some other bits and pieces I’ll need.
