In terms of urban scenes and landscapes, there is something about the backages, as opposed to frontages (or is it rearages?) of buildings. They are not updated as shop fronts usually are. They are often expanded and enlarged as required. You also see the gubbins that has been added that reflects the internal changes, such as air conditioning units, venting for extractor systems and extensions for kitchens. They show their age and are not neat and tidy.
