Stay away!

After the mother went missing with three kittens I kept feeding her, well I thought I did. I put food out twice a day and it was gone within 30mins. But if I stayed around no one came.

So I went into hiding one evening, I wanted to know whether I was feeding the mother cat or a fox or rats! After 15 minutes crouching in the cold a dark shadow appeared, a cat! She was very timid, started eating but the ears were moving all the time and she kept looking up to check no one was around. I stayed completely still. Then she disappeared towards the wild corner of the garden.

I repeated this a few times until I decided to follow her a bit. I told the kids where I thought she was hiding and my 10 year old son said that of course she'd be hiding in his "top-secret" den! It was dry and safe there.

We found her!

All three kittens are doing well. I bring the food to her now. She growls when she hears me coming. Then when I make eye contact she hisses! But before I even emptied the cat food tin she comes and starts eating. And I get a really good look at her kittens!
