Pyrmont Bridge
Firstly, thanks so much for your comments, stars and hearts for yesterday's image. I even made an appearance in Spotlight for the first time. :) I was pleased to be there with rainie's amazing image leading the field.
Today, with an overcast sky, it was more of a challenge so a bridge to the rescue. The foundation stone for this bridge was laid in December 1899 with it opening in June, 1902. At the time it was one of the largest swing bridges in the world and one of the first to be powered by electricity. It was in use until the 1980s and, as a kid, I can remember crossing in on the 459 bus to York Street when we holidayed with my aunt and uncle.
